Yuga Labs, a prominent player in the Web3 space, has recently announced its plans to venture into the budding market sector of Ordinals Inscriptions. Yuga Labs has gained recognition for creating the popular Bored Ape Yacht Club, and is now exploring new avenues by teasing a new experimental NFT collection called “TwelveFold”. This latest project is significantly limited in comparison to the greater Yuga ecosystem, with a maximum of 300 pieces to be created. It is important to note that this collection will not interact with or be related to any previous, ongoing, or future Ethereum-based Yuga projects.

Unlike Yuga’s previous ventures, the TwelveFold collection pieces were crafted in-house by Yuga Labs’ art team, using 3D modeling, algorithmic construction, and high-end rendering tools. The rendering techniques used in the creation of these pieces output high-fidelity results, which typically require large amounts of data to store and can be costly for creators. However, by utilizing Ordinals Inscriptions, Yuga has seemingly bypassed these storage and financial constraints.
The TwelveFold collection is described by Yuga as a “base 12 art system localized around a 12×12 grid.” The collection will include highly-rendered 3D elements, as well as hand-drawn features, serving as an homage to existing Ordinal Inscriptions, which are mostly done by hand. Yuga Labs has designed this collection as a visual allegory for the cartography of data on the Bitcoin blockchain.

Whats next?
Due to the high-profile nature of this drop and the limited number of pieces available, TwelveFold will be released in an auction-style format, with all bids to be made in Bitcoin. To participate, bidders will need a self-custodial wallet containing Bitcoin and an empty Bitcoin address to receive a piece if a bid is won.
The exact details surrounding the timing of the auction will be announced 24 hours before the drop through Yuga Labs’ social media accounts and the official Yuga Labs news blog. For more information about the project, users can visit the TwelveFold website. Yuga Labs also recommends that users familiarize themselves with Ordinals Inscriptions by consulting a guide to prepare to participate in the auction.
