Superplastic has recently raised over $20 million USD in a Series A-4 funding round, led by the Amazon Alexa Fund, taking the total investment value for the creative studio to over $58 million USD. According to Forbes, the investment will finance a new Prime Video original series, “The Janky & Guggimon Show,” featuring two of Superplastic’s most prominent virtual celebrities.

The animated series chronicles the exploits of two idle and highly inept best friends who aspire to become wealthy and famous but wreak havoc and destruction everywhere they go. The cast includes a mix of celebrity friends, both animated and human, which the brand is renowned for, with collaborations with Paris Hilton, Tommy Hilfiger, J. Balvin, and other notable personalities.

Superplastic has a dedicated following across various media, including social media, music, gaming, fashion, collectibles, NFTs, and live events, with recent collaborations with Gucci, Bored Ape Yacht Club, Fortnite, and Mercedes Benz. With one million Instagram followers for Janky and 1.5 million followers for Guggimon, Superplastic’s synthetic celebrities have established themselves as social media sensations.

According to CEO Paul Budnitz, the collaboration with Amazon Studios and the Alexa Fund provides a vast audience and a new playground to create havoc worldwide. The Amazon Alexa Fund investment will enable the expansion of Superplastic’s universe of characters to an even wider audience.
