One Championship, the Singaporean MMA brand, and Animoca Brands’ subsidiary, Notre Game, are partnering to develop a mixed martial arts (MMA) mobile strategy fighting game with NFTs. The game, named One Fight Arena, is set to launch in early 2024, with initial player testing beginning later this year.

One Fight Arena will enable players to purchase NFTs representing the game’s fighters, providing them with verifiable authenticity and statistics on character rarity. The game will also be available as a free-to-play mobile game for players who prefer not to engage with token elements.

The game will leverage One Championship’s roster of fighters and offer “strategic gameplay” from a first-person point of view. The game will also simulate the fighters’ experiences, starting from the very beginning of their respective fighting careers.

Hua Fung Teh, One Championship co-founder, and Group President stated that the partnership with Animoca Brands would provide One Championship with an opportunity to engage with their global fanbase at a deeper level. Animoca Brands’ Executive Chairman, Yat Siu, echoed similar sentiments, stating that the game’s development with Web3 elements would enable fans of the world’s largest martial arts organization to access a novel gaming experience with true digital ownership at its core.

The game’s development comes as Asia is increasingly becoming a prime market for, and producer of, Web3 games. The Web3 gaming market is expected to be dominated by Asia, according to a DappRadar report. The partnership between One Championship and Animoca Brands is set to provide MMA fans with a new gaming experience while incorporating NFTs to enhance player engagement.
