Fortune Magazine has announced its second historic non-fungible token (NFT) drop in collaboration with creative coder and generative artist Itzel Yard. The exclusive NFT will feature a magazine cover titled “Fortune: Crypto Climbs Back From The Worst Year Ever,” which has been designed by the artist. The NFT will be available as ERC-721 for purchase for 0.1 ETH in a 24-hour sale on April 9 starting at 1:00 pm EDT on the Foundation platform. The animated cover, created in collaboration between Yard and generative agency ARTXCODE, will be released exclusively as a limited edition of the April/May 2023 issue in the United States. Additionally, it will represent the sole cover of the Europe and Asia editions of the magazine, which will circulate on newsstands starting April 25, 2023.

Yard’s design for the magazine cover art reflects her vision of crypto and NFTs as a long-term mission, applauding those who continue building even during tough times. Her artwork symbolizes hope for the crypto community, which has become a significant component of her artistic practice. The algorithm used to make the artwork expands pixels and can convert a small black square into a more extensive geometric shape. For Yard, it looks like walking in the middle of a city and seeing all the buildings.

To encourage participation from a broad segment of the cryptocurrency community and show support for the sector during the bear period, the artwork will be available at a reasonable price point of approximately $170. With the release of its second NFT, Fortune is broadening its coverage of Web3 and AI and adding to the dialogue about how business and finance will develop. The latest issue of Fortune features an iconic cover that shows the shifting of the building blocks as crypto climbs back from one of its worst years ever. This continuity, despite the ups and downs, mirrors the strides that have been made in the crypto ecosystem over the last year.
