DeLorean, the iconic car manufacturer behind the legendary DMC-12 sports car, is breaking new ground by accepting reservations for its upcoming Alpha5 electric car through the sale of production slot NFTs. The Alpha5 is the company’s first electric vehicle, featuring an all-wheel drive, large coupe design with ‘gullwing’ doors and a 100-kWh battery that boasts a range of over 300 miles on a single charge. The DeLorean Motor Company has partnered with NFT IQ to create the world’s first “EV Digital Twin,” which is linked to a real-world production slot of the Alpha5 and an online marketplace for the digital collectible. Each holder of a digital twin secures a unique production slot from the limited quantity of Alpha5 EVs to be produced over the next few years. Six months before the Alpha5 is made, its owners can customize it and get a new digital twin linked to the actual VIN. The digital twin also has a gameable avatar and access to special DeLorean-hosted events.

The NFTs can be traded on the DeLorean-established exchange, enabling interested buyers to purchase or trade NFTs for the Alpha5 build slot.
