Damien Hirst, a celebrated British artist, has teamed up with HENI, an innovative art platform, to launch a series of spin paintings as both NFTs and physical artworks. Dubbed ‘The Beautiful Paintings,’ Hirst utilized a generative algorithm and machine learning to create his distinctive new designs that feature bright colors. Through the project, Hirst and HENI aim to merge the worlds of digital and physical art using cutting-edge technology.
Hirst has long experimented with spin art, having explored the medium for over thirty years. He was inspired by Abstract Expressionism and developed a machine to create art by pouring pigments onto spinning canvases, allowing chance movements and color interactions to occur naturally. The outcome of these experiments is a collection of stunning masterpieces that collectors can now design themselves through ‘The Beautiful Paintings’ dashboard on HENI. Using this platform, they can select their preferred combination of colors, styles, shapes, sizes, and mediums to produce a unique and randomized artwork.

The Beautiful Paintings minting began on March 31 and will continue until April 10. Collectors can choose from 25 different artwork styles and purchase their creations as either NFTs or physical artworks. The physical pieces, which are signed by Hirst, will be printed on canvas and stretched on a frame, with prices ranging from $1,500 to $6,000 depending on their size. The NFTs are priced at $2,000 each.
In a tweet, Hirst expressed his excitement about the project and its potential for the future, stating that he was blown away by the technological advancements that enabled him to create such beautiful artworks. Hirst is a prominent figure in the UK art scene and is currently the wealthiest living artist in the country, with a net worth of over $380 million. This is not his first foray into digital art, having launched his first NFT project, ‘Currency,’ in July 2021, which explored themes of monetary worth and value.
